Rahul Gandhi to hold rallies in Kolkata and Serampore on April 25

Rahul Gandhi is set to visit West Bengal on April 25, where he will address public meetings in Kolkata and Serampore as part of the Congress campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections. The revised schedule was announced after earlier programmes planned for April 23 were cancelled due to lack of police permission. Party sources confirmed that fresh clearance has now been granted by the administration.

According to Congress leaders, the first meeting will be held at Shahid Minar Maidan in Kolkata around 2:30 PM, followed by a second rally in Serampore in Hooghly district. Preparations are underway at both venues, with party workers mobilising supporters ahead of the high-profile visit. The programme is being seen as an important push for the party in the state election campaign.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to hold three meetings on April 23 at Park Circus Ramlila Park, Metiabruz and Serampore Stadium. However, those events were cancelled after permission was not granted by the authorities, leading to political controversy in the state. The Congress alleged that administrative clearance was denied under influence, while the ruling party rejected the claim.

State Congress president Shubhankar Sarkar said that recent rallies by Rahul Gandhi in Malda and Murshidabad drew large crowds, claiming that this growing support has created concern among both the Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He added that the party’s momentum in the state is increasing ahead of the elections.

With the West Bengal Assembly elections approaching, all major political parties are intensifying their campaigns. Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming rallies are expected to be closely watched, as Congress attempts to strengthen its organisational presence and convey its political message to voters across key constituencies.
